Covid-19 may be forcing us to change the way we meet, but it won’t stop us from bringing you content and industry experience. First to the format: we are again hosting this month’s event in Virtual Reality, in AltspaceVR. April’s initial meeting in a virtual environment for presentations and Q&A went well and we received positive feedback from our attendees. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to provide live demonstrations in this virtual environment, but for those of you that have a VR headset you get to join us in Virtual Reality! For those that don’t, AltSpace can be accessed via PC application in 2D mode or you can join us via the Facebook Live stream at facebook.com/VRARChicago. Instructions for AltspaceVR 2D mode and Faebook Live will be on the eventbrite page.

The topic of the month is Hospitality. The world is in a different space right now and the hospitality industry is in survival mode. The question is, can VR training and augmented reality help this industry get back on its feet? Join us in a virtual environment and hear from industry leaders about how they’re using virtual and augmented reality to try and solve this problem and see where they think we are going in the future.

$25 Exclusive Pre-Event
– comes with a free pizza delivered to you!

As this event is about hospitality, we wanted to extend our hospitality to our supporters from 5:30-6pm, prior to the main event, where we will send a Lou Malnati’s pizza to arrive at your house between 5:00 and 5:30pm! In exchange for your $25 donation, we will send you a one-topping pizza and invite you to an exclusive networking pre-event with members of the VRARA Chicago board, sponsors, and panelists – limit to our first 50 donors at this level.

*Limited to Chicagoland residents only.

**Ultimately, if you are out of the delivery zones we will do our very best to reimburse you.

***The pre-event is only available to those who have VR headsets or AltspaceVR 2D-Mode downloaded onto their Windows device – and is not available for Mac users

****Offer ends at noon on May 6th.

What’s The Format:

6:00-6:15 – Networking & Preparation
6:15-6:30 – Introductions & Welcome
6:30-7:30 – Panel Discussion and Q&A
7:30-8:00 – Networking

The virtual environment does resemble a physical space, so you will be able to talk with other attendees prior to the start of the presentations. We suggest that you arrive no later than 6:00pm, and we will get started promptly at 6:15.  There is limited access to the virtual environment, so RSVP early to secure your place. Please try to get familiar with the technology prior to the MeetUp, as we will be unable to provide support during the event.

We will start with informal networking, then host a panel discussion to answer audience questions, and we end with more networking. We keep it simple and informal – this MeetUp is about you, our members, and not the host or presenters. Come and get your questions answered, take your next step in XR Technology.
