04/01/2020 – About the Topic
Covid-19 may be forcing us to change the way we meet, but it won’t stop us from bringing you content and industry experience. First to the format: we’re hosting this month’s event in AltSpace. That’s right, we’re going to put our money where our mouth is and meet in a virtual environment for live presentations and Q&A. Unfortunately we won’t be able to provide live demonstrations, but for those of you that have a VR headset you get to join us in VR. For those that don’t AltSpace can be accessed via mobile or PC application.
The topic of the month is AEC – Architecture, Engineering and Construction. Now more than ever it’s easy to see how important immersive technology is to these industries. Virtual and augmented reality allow spatial awareness, presence in designed spaces that don’t physically exist yet. Sales, design, tours – the capabilities are endless. Even when we can’t get to places, immersive technology allows us to visit them, see them in a skyline, meet others and collaborate.
Join us in a virtual environment and hear from industry leaders about how they’re using virtual and augmented reality.
What’s The Format:
6:00-6:15 – Networking & Preparation
6:15-6:30 – Introductions & Welcome
6:30-7:30 – Panel Discussion and Q&A
7:30-8:00 – Networking
The virtual environment does resemble a physical space, so you will be able to talk with other attendees prior to the start of the presentations. We suggest that you arrive no later than 6:00pm, and we will get started promptly at 6:15. There is limited access to the virtual environment, so RSVP early to secure your place. We’ve been in contact with the AltSpace team and hope to be able to accommodate the same size audience we normally host at 1871. Please try to get familiar with the technology prior to the MeetUp, as we will be unable to provide support during the event.
We will start with informal networking, then host a panel discussion to answer audience questions, and we end with more networking. We keep it simple and informal – this MeetUp is about you, our members, and not the host or presenters. Come and get your questions answered, take your next step in XR Technology.
